October 25- Union Grove Great Pumpkinfest featuring Pumpkin Chuckin’

We have some exciting news: The Great Pumpkin Festival is going to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever before! The Great Pumpkin Festival will now be held at the Racine County Fairgrounds and will be featuring Pumpkin Chuckin’.

What is Pumpkin Chuckin’ you ask?

Pumpkin Chuckin turns a plain ol’ pumpkin into a projectile. “Backyard engineers” build catapults, slingshots, and trebuchets to hurl or ‘chuck’ a pumpkin as far as they can. The pumpkin must be chucked solely by mechanical means. That means no electricity, motors, or explosives. So far, the record for the furthest a pumpkin has been rocketed into the air is 4,438 feet. That’s more than 12 full length football fields!

There will also be other events to enjoy, including pie eating contests, chili cook off, children’s activities, and more! Find out more information by following The Great Pumpkinfest on Facebook or visiting their website here.
